We will visit the region of Arcadia, the birthplace of Pan, the god of the wild, and other nymphs and spirits of nature. Arcadia’s landscape mountains and lush valleys, making it a heaven for nature lovers.
Our first stop will be KapsiasCave. As you enter the cavern, dancing sculptures made of limestone over millions of years are a breath away and beautifully showcased thanks to special lighting. The tiny ponds reflect the natural wonders adding to the aura, which is enhanced with the sound of dripping.
Our next destination will be the traditional village Dimitsana with the charming stone houses. Dimitsana is the most significant village of Gortiniabecause of its history, natural beauty, and its cultural activity. We will visit the Open-Air Water-Power Museum, in Dimitsana, highlights the importance of water-power in traditional society and after that we see LousiosRiver flows through a stunning gorge, stretching from Karitaina to Dimitsana villages.
We are going to visit the ProdromouMonastery. The Monastery of Saint John the Baptist (Agios Ioannis Prodromos, or Prodromou) is also called the 'Great Cave' of Arcadia because it was built into the rock on the east bank of LousiosGorge by monks who lived in nearby hermitages.
Our next stop will be the village Stemnitsa, which is one of the most beautiful and historical villages in the prefecture of Arcadia. It is surrounded by cherry, walnut and plane trees. The stone tower houses, the rivers and springs, the delicious local pastries, the unique natural beauty, as well as the modern tourism infrastructure make Stemnitsa the ideal destination for winter or summer holidays.
After that we can go to Ellinikovillage to have launch in a traditional restaurant. You can taste traditional flavors as stifado, risotto with black truffles, and trahanas soup.
Our trip will finish with the view of an old bridge the Bridge of Karitena. At the end, we can stop to buy traditional products as yogurt and cheese, particularly graviera from the mountain villages, spoon sweets, Menalonhoney, apples, cherries, garlic and wines!
