We will explore:

Different areas of the city on foot and learn about contemporary life, food, and culture. Avoiding tourist traps and head to beloved local markets, delis, and family-owned tavernas to taste the famous souvlaki, Greek pies, koulouri, olives, and more.

We will start from your hotel direct to food adventure into a pie shop to taste traditional cheese pie or “spanakopita” made right on spot with the freshest ingredients. In an old bakery we will discover the source of fresh and warm bread sesame rings(Koulouri), found in every food stall around Athens.

After that, we will continue to a pastry shop with the best “loukoumades” the Greek version of donuts, crisp and golden on the outside and soft on the inside, drenched in honey and cinnamon!

We will visit the oldest restaurant in Athens, and we will taste cheeses and sliced meat accompanying with tsipouro. Furthermore, we are going to visit one of the oldest coffee shops in Athens that keeps its traditional character and operates also as a museum. They will explain how the Greek people play backgammon while we will taste the flavor of the Greek coffee and a sweet spoon (traditional Greek sweet).

Finally, we will visit the oldest distillery in Athens with their liqueurs and wines’ production. We can taste a liqueur or a glass of Greek wine. Of course, we have the chance to discover the famous Greek Souvlaki and enjoy it with a local beer! Souvlaki is meat (or vegetables) wrapped in pita bread the quintessential Greek street food, juicy tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce. We will finish the street food experience with sweet memories of scrumptious local desserts.
